Join us for the Global Intergenerational Week taking place from the 24th to 30th of April 2023. This annual campaign seeks to unite individuals, groups, organizations, local and national governments, and NGOs who share a common goal of nurturing cross-generational friendships.
AIIP Intergenerational Awards 2026
The AIIP Intergenerational Awards 2026 celebrate excellence, leadership, and innovation in the field of intergenerational practice. These awards shine a light on the people, programs, and research driving meaningful connections across generations, strengthening communities, and shaping a more inclusive future.
This year’s awards recognise achievements across three key areas:
- AIIP Intergenerational Innovation & Contribution Award 2026Celebrates an outstanding intergenerational program that demonstrates innovation, creativity, and significant contributions to fostering meaningful connections between generations. Recognising initiatives that bridge generational gaps through purposeful, mutually beneficial activities, this award highlights measurable positive impacts with a focus on sustainability and scalability. - Intergenerational Practitioner of the Year 2026Honours an individual practitioner who has demonstrated exceptional dedication, leadership, and impact in advancing intergenerational practice. The recipient will have gone above and beyond in creating opportunities for meaningful intergenerational interactions, fostering inclusive and age-friendly communities, and modelling innovative approaches that inspire others in the field. - Research Excellence Award 2026Recognises outstanding contributions to academic research in intergenerational practice. This webinar will focus on Ivey’s remarkable live‑in training experience at Crossway Montessori Community in the United States. The significance of this formation, and the ongoing contribution of the Crossway community, has profoundly shaped Ivey’s belief that communities flourish when generations learn, grow, and support one another. She remains hopeful that replicating and advancing such models of care and education – models that promote connection, belonging, and lifelong purpose for people of all ages – will strengthen the fabric of Australian communities and inspire a renewed vision for intergenerational living.

Australian Association of Gerontology (AAG) Pre-conference Workshops
As part of the Australian Association of Gerontology (AAG) pre-conference workshop series, we will be delivering an interactive and practical workshop.
Where Do I Start with Intergenerational Practice? From inspiration to implementation
Discover the foundations of intergenerational practice, explore what makes programs meaningful and successful, and gain practical tools, ideas, and confidence to create opportunities for genuine connection and lasting impact across generations. Through a blend of discussion, activities, and hands-on experiences, you’ll also experience intergenerational practice in action and leave with ideas you can apply in your own organisation and community.
You will learn:
- What intergenerational practice is (and isn’t)
- The key ingredients of successful programs
- How to get started in your own setting
Practical ideas you can implement immediately
How to create meaningful outcomes across generations
