A virtual, FACE-TO-FACE Professional Development Program via TEAMS, Two Modules over two half days, one elective module self-paced online.

Members $605 (incl GST)

This course will consist of three modules. Two core modules will be delivered face-to-face, and participants will choose one of three elective modules to complete online, self-paced.

What will be covered in this course

Module 2.1a/b: Foundations of Facilitation

  • Explore the core principles and skills essential to effective facilitation in intergenerational practice.
  • Understand the fundamental concepts that serve as the bedrock for successful facilitation.

Module 2.2: Navigating Grief and Loss in Intergenerational Programmes

  • Gain a comprehensive understanding of the process of grief and loss.
  • Develop facilitation skills for discussions around grief and loss within intergenerational programmes.
  • Emphasise the importance of upfront education about grief, loss, death, and dying for students.
  • Learn self-care strategies and support for colleagues during times of loss.

Module 2.3: Young Children and Communities

  • Investigate the dynamics of relationships between different generations in intergenerational programmes.
  • Delve into facilitation techniques tailored to various early childhood settings.

Module 2.4: The Art of Facilitation for Teenagers

  • Tailor facilitation techniques to engage and connect with teenagers in intergenerational programmes.
  • Explore strategies to address the unique dynamics and challenges of facilitating programmes for this age group.

Module 2.5: Online Intergenerational Connections

  • Understand intergenerational connections within online communities.
  • Explore intergenerational learning and well-being through video conferencing (VC) and its benefits.
  • Study scientific evidence in physiology and neurology supporting these interactions.
  • Plan and facilitate virtual intergenerational programmes.
  • Develop strategies for initiating and managing online intergenerational learning initiatives using VC.

Module Components:

  • Each module is designed to accommodate 2 weeks of engagement (2 – 4 hours per week), allowing flexibility based on individual curiosity and exploration depth.
  • Optional “delve deeper” items are available for those seeking a more comprehensive understanding, extending the overall course duration.
  • All modules are accessible upon course commencement, allowing participants to progress through the content at their own pace.

Supporting Tools:

  • Access downloadable tools, including budgeting, evaluation, and other practical resources.
  • Engage in fortnightly virtual catch-ups on MICROSOFT TEAMs with experienced AIIP course developers, facilitators, and fellow participants.

Assessment and Certification:

  • Encouragement of reflective practice through completion of reflection items within each module.
  • Successful completion of reflection points qualifies participants for the AIIP completion certificate.
