A successful colloquium held in early December 2021 highlighted that there is a great need for opportunities to share stories and hear what others are doing to improve their intergenerational practices and/or to be part of the Intergenerational movement with the view of improving practice.
As a consequence, the Australian Institute of Intergenerational Practice (AIIP) is delighted to host the 2022 Intergenerational Symposium on Wednesday 27 April during Global Intergenerational Week at two in-person locations plus an online option.
In Queensland, participants can attend Gold Coast Health and Knowledge precinct, COHORT, 16 Nexus Road Southport, Gold Coast, and in New South Wales they can attend Neuroscience Research Australia (NeuRA), Margarete Ainsworth Building, Barker Street Randwick, Sydney NSW 2031, in the John and Betty Lynch Seminar Room.
The Symposium is a great opportunity to meet, share knowledge and network with others in the intergenerational practice community; as we showcase practices and projects from around Australia and hear about the most recent developments in the field from a great line-up of inspirational speakers and presenters.
Following a similar structure to the December colloquium, the symposium will include a plenary session on the new ABC series 3, “Old people’s home for Teens” and panel discussion with experts in the field, followed by “Stories from the Field”.
There will also be workshops for our in-person guests including the popular World Café on “tackling the after effects” as well as an opportunity for those submitting a paper to the Special Issue in Social Sciences “Intergenerational research—a multi-perspective collection of evidence for theory and best practice” to discuss their working papers in progress and receive live feedback. We’re looking forward to welcoming everyone and sharing and embracing new ideas in April, in person or online, as we continue to build an evidence base and raise awareness for mutually beneficial intergenerational programs in Australia.
