You know those moments when you’re working on an intergenerational program and think, “I’d really love to talk this through with someone who gets it”?
Or you come across a spark of an idea, a new partnership possibility, or a design question and find yourself wondering, “Has anyone tried this before”?
Intergenerational practice is full of these experiences, from challenges to breakthroughs to the “I’d love to learn how others are doing this” conversations. AIIP is always here to support you, and we also recognise that connecting with peers adds another layer of practical wisdom.
We’re updating the AIIP Intergenerational Map and adding a new section to help you connect more easily with others across the community.
At the conference, members told us they’re looking for more opportunities to network, share ideas, and collaborate. To support this, we’ve added two new optional categories to your listing:
- “Ask me about”: [For areas where you feel confident, experienced or simply happy to share what you know].
- “Happy to connect on”: [For areas where you’re interested, curious, or simply open to a conversation with others].
You can be as broad or as specific as you like. For example:
- Ask me about building partnerships with school and aged care providers.
- Happy to connect on programs that bring teenagers and older people together.
- Happy to connect on any aspect of intergenerational work.
These simple additions make it easier for members to find each other for shared learning, troubleshooting, or exploring potential delivery partners for upcoming projects and grant proposals.

If your program has grown, shifted focus, added new partners, or wrapped up a pilot, a quick update helps keep the map accurate and genuinely useful. The same goes for research, whether you’re starting something new, continuing a study, or sharing early insights.
And if you’re new to the community and are still working towards your first program, you’ve very welcome here too. Adding your details is one of the easiest ways to increase visibility and show the breadth of intergenerational work happening across Australia.
Updating only takes a few minutes, and a current map means stronger connections, clearer opportunities, and a more confident picture of the sector we’re building together.
