Lights, camera, action – Global Intergenerational Week [GIW] 2026!

At the 2026 AIIP conference, Dr Stephanie Ward urged members to turn the growing awareness of intergenerational practice, fostered through programs like Old People’s Home for 4 Year Olds, into action.

Global Intergenerational Week 2026 offers a perfect opportunity to do just that!

What is Global Intergenerational Week?

An international campaign, this year running from the 24th to 30th April 2026, which calls for individuals, community groups, organisations, governments, and NGOs to come together to collaborate, share knowledge, and promote intergenerational practice.

How can I get involved? Some of the ways to get involved include:

  • Bingo with a Twist – join in Sunday 15th March 4pm NZDT/ 1pm AEST. Register here for updates.
  • Chain Reaction Challenge Pass a Pom: Act now – the challenge is open until 31 March. This is an easy, fun and impactful way to contribute. Catch up with someone from another generation, make a pom pom together, and then upload a video or photo of it being passed and caught.  Click here to get involved.
  • Host or join an Activity: If you are planning an activity or keen to get involved further, find out more here: Intergenerational Week

How does my participation help?

Your involvement ensures the success of GIW to showcase the benefits of intergenerational practice to reduce loneliness and challenge stereotypes by building stronger communities.   For more information on the impact of last years’ campaign please access the GIW 2025 Impact Report.

See you there!
