Season 2 of Old People’s Home for Teenagers commences 3 October at 8.30pm on ABCTV

The epidemic of loneliness has gripped societies worldwide, transcending borders and demographics. In an age marked by digital connectivity, paradoxically, many find themselves isolated. Loneliness is not merely a personal emotion; it’s a public health crisis. Research links it to mental health issues, such as depression and anxiety, and even physical ailments like heart disease.

Modern lifestyles, urbanization, and the erosion of community bonds contribute to this phenomenon. The pandemic exacerbated the problem, with lockdowns intensifying social isolation. To combat this crisis, we must prioritize social connections, invest in mental health services, and foster inclusive communities. Recognizing loneliness as a significant societal challenge is the first step toward a more connected, resilient world. Continuing their groundbreaking experiment with the focus on loneliness, the ABC has produced the second season of Old People’s Home for Teenagers. The first episode will be on ABCTV and Iview on Tuesday 3 October at 8.30pm. It is sure to be a heartwarming and compelling season which will hopefully go some way towards bringing the global issue of loneliness to the fore and provide inspiration for those who wish to change the status quo through intergenerational practice.
