Health and Wellbeing Grants awarded – including AIIP!
Health and Wellbeing Queensland (HWQld) has announced the recipients of the Community Grants to develop and implement exciting ideas to improve the health and wellbeing of Queenslanders.
Our initiative Book Buddies was among the recipients of a Community Grant.
We are excited to receive this grant to implement our Book Buddies program over the next 12 months. Through our initiative, we aim to design, deliver and evaluate an 8-week intergenerational pilot program. The intended outcomes of the pilot program are to support:
- older adults to feel more socially connected and engaged,
- students to grow in empathy, and confidence,
- stronger collaboration between aged care and education sectors.
Nearly $600,000 was shared among recipients to develop and implement innovative ideas to improve the health and wellbeing of Queenslanders, as follows:
- For the Health and Wellbeing Community Grants, 25 grants with a combined total of approximately $400,000 was awarded to support community-led initiatives across the state to improve the health and wellbeing of Queenslanders, focusing on nutrition, physical activity, wellbeing, sleep and/or health equity.
- For the GenQ Health and Wellbeing Community Accelerator Grants, 6 grants with a combined total of nearly $200,000 were awarded to further develop or expand previously funded projects and continue improving the health and wellbeing of communities across Queensland.
Health and Wellbeing Queensland CEO, Dr Robyn Littlewood, said the Health and Wellbeing Grants attracted a strong response, with 379 applications submitted for the Health and Wellbeing Community Grants and 12 applications for the Community Accelerator Grants.
‘Through the Health and Wellbeing Grants program, Health and Wellbeing Queensland is delighted to support innovative ideas or approaches with potential to influence health and wellbeing promotion and/or practice that leads to improved, sustainable and equitable health and wellbeing outcomes for Queenslanders,’ Dr Littlewood said.
